Angers

Proudly dominating the Maine (and its base) with its 17 defensive towers, the chateau of Angers shelters the famous Apocalypse tapestries.

Do not miss the visit of the medievel area, the old abodes and the art museums of the capital city of Anjou... also renowned for its gastronomy !

The ltitle « Basses Vallées Angevines » refers to the vast floodable areas situated North and South of Angers, crossed through by three rivers - the Mayenne, the Sarthe and the Loir , which form the Maine before finishing their journey in the Loire.

Numerous itinieraries along the riverbank have been created, the walkers will know how to fully appreciate these vast humid areas dedicated to pastures for centuries.

St Aubin island

It's in the heart of the Maine plain that formed the St Aubin island.

At 5 minutes from the town centre a millenial harmony is offered to you. The Anjou walkers favourite site, the island also fulfils its agricultural vocation.

This site is classified as Special Protection Zone (SPZ) and is integrated in the european Natura 2000 system.

The Doutre

The time of a walk, your feet will take you from the Cité to the Doutre, to find an animated and studient atmosphere or to taste the tranquility of the banks of the Maine. The Doutre still conserves today a rural and discreet atmosphere. Its wood frame houses, its mansions, its Anjou homes with blond tufa frontages and its numerous parks will enchant you.
