in the Cognac country, the lines of vines shape the country side, following the curves of the small valleys and impose themselves right up to the farms. The wine houses where mature the Cognacs announce the colour.

Perched high on its plateau, Angoulême uses its height. It ust be said that its history has counted in that of France.... Today, one appreciate the Southern air, the prettily restored town centre, rightly names 'old Angoulême". Town of Art and History, it displays at every street corner its rich past but for that it does not forget its future. Cradle of creativity Angoulême has not been baptised the capital of animated cartoon books and pictures for nothing. The valley of the Charente links Angoulême to Cognac. After a nonchalant course of 370 km across the Limousin and Charente regions, the river rejoins the Atlantic ocean between Marannes and Oléron. Photo gallery |
