Britanny

In Brittany water is everywhere. Here cows don't watch passing trains but boats of the landlubbers and the captains of a day.

Savage and trained, slumbering on the plains or carving out the rocksto get to the sea, none of our rivers is the same.

The lockGueslin, near Saint-Martin-sur-Oust, has one of the prettiest floral displays on the canal. The lock keepers participate annually in this competitionthus giving holidaymakers on barges an image of a smart and welcoming region.

Suddely , in ameander in the river, arises the silhouette of a chapple with granite flanks, a famous place of foregiveness in Brittany.

The catle of Josselin, middle age fortress, reflects in the wathe canalised West of the Oust. The tow path is full of suprises...360km that you can discover the treasures of inland Brittany on bike or on foot.

The historic Canal from Nantes to Brest

In 1600, the idea of establishing a river link between Brest and Nantes was hatched, as during this period a company of inhabitants of Rennes assured the navigation between Rennes, Messac, Redon and the Océan.

The link to Nates Nantes, was only completed in 1836 when it was opened to navigation. It can be considered that the canal from Nantes to Brest was finally completed on the 1st January 1842

The overall legth attains 360 km 400.
